Tile Cleaning
Cleaning tiles can be tricky, as tile surfaces can often be difficult to clean without causing damage. The first step of any tile-cleaning process is to sweep or vacuum the area to remove any dirt, dust, or debris. Once the area is clean, it is then time to choose a cleaner. For general cleaning and stain removal, a mild detergent like dish soap should do the trick; for more tough stains, a stronger cleaner may be needed. While ammonia, bleach, and vinegar are popular choices for tile cleaners, it is important to only use these on non-porous tiles such as stone, ceramic, or porcelain. Once a cleaner has been chosen, it is important to apply the cleaner to the tile sparingly and to test it in a small corner before applying it to the whole surface. A sponge or soft cloth should be used to scrub the cleaner into the tile gently. After the cleaner has been applied, it is important to rinse the tiles with a clean, damp cloth and to dry them with a soft cloth or paper towel.
For regular maintenance, light mopping with warm water should be sufficient. If there is heavy staining, a grout cleaner or tile polisher may be needed. Finally, it is important to wax or seal the tile using a sealant specific to the type of tile you are cleaning. This will protect the tile and keep it looking fresh and new.
